About Us.

Freedom Dreams Co-operative Education is a co-operative development and education hub that shares knowledge and resources about co-operatives and the solidarity economy from an intersectional Black, Indigenous and Person of Colour (BIPOC) perspective.

Our vision is to see communities of colour launch co-operatives that create equitable, sustainable and dignified employment, contribute to the economic development of their communities and foster equity, diversity and inclusion within Canada’s co-op sector.

To arrive at this freedom dream, we will empower people and communities with knowledge about the histories and current-day experiences of co-operation among the BIPOC diaspora so they can see themselves reflected in the co-op movement. Working together, we will share know-how to ideate, launch and operate co-operative projects and businesses so those reflections can become realities.

We do co-op education.

We do training, online and in-person workshops and consulting to support your co-op in its development, to support organizations in embodying co-operative values.

Freedom Dreams Cooperative Education is redefining what the term co-operative means, in order to support the range of BIPOC-led co-operative models in Canada.

Inclusion in the co-operative sector is vital as marginalized groups work to build economic self-sufficiency in a post-pandemic world.”
